Parisi Shipyard: a fusion between tradition and new technologies
The Parisi Shipyard was established technically in 1979, but our history started long ago, to be more exact, in the 1930s. In those years Ponza was an island completely diverse of what it is today. In a few years it had inovuntarely become a digging site for the fascist regime, from the mines, they began extracting bentonite, a kind of clay which can only be found in volcanic regions.
Those were the years when people who lived in the country or by the seashore, were better off because they could live off of what nature provided them. If they lived in Ponza it was possible to go to the seaside and fish to their content in Ponza's generous waters.
During those years, woodcarvers would build shall boats out of wood. They were made by experienced fishermen and one of those men was Mr. Parisi who passed on his knowledge and passion for boats and the sea to the children Silverio and Ennio, both woodcarvers and also to his nephew Daniele.
The Parisi boats are a splendid example of fusion between tradition and new technologies: the last models that were produced are the Ponza 75 and the Gavi 27, available in wood and varnished pane, both capable of reaching a speed of 30 knots.
One who sails a Parisi boat feels the mark of excellence, history, craftmanship, the labour and the passion that can only be felt by one who lives on an island and who lives only for the sea, "the scent of the sea".
